Cooper the dog

The Foundation recently received a heartwarming story from one of its beneficiaries, the Asbestos Diseases Society of SA Inc, regarding Cooper the dog.

A gentleman diagnosed with mesothelioma, not expected to live very long, became one of their clients. Despite his illness, he cherished animals and brought several home for short periods to alleviate his loneliness. Among them was a charming Maltese-Schitzu cross puppy named 'Cooper,' a nod to his fondness for Coopers beer. Together, they formed an unbreakable bond.

As his health deteriorated, the gentleman spent more time in the hospital, leaving Cooper longing for his return. Fortunately, a compassionate neighbor cared for Cooper during his owner's absence. Eventually, due to the man's declining health, he made the agonizing decision to find Cooper a new home. The Asbestos Diseases Society facilitated Cooper's transition to a widow in need of companionship.

Cooper has since proven to be a faithful companion, bringing solace and affection to both of his owners in their times of need.
