$1 million milestone reached

The Coopers Foundation has raised more than $1 million for charity since being formed in 2006.

The Foundation announced it had broken through the million dollar mark at a special presentation ceremony this week.

Foundation Chairman and Coopers’ Managing Director, Dr Tim Cooper, said that reaching the million dollar milestone had been a rewarding outcome in such a short period of time.

“In its first year, the Foundation raised $55,000, but this has grown rapidly thanks to generous contributions by a lot of people and organisations,” he said.

The Foundation raises money through brewery and museum tours, donations made by individuals and companies, and other fundraising activities. It supports charitable organisations with recognised strengths in health care, youth education, community welfare, or aged care.

Coopers meets all overheads and administration costs of the Foundation to ensure all money raised goes to charity.

Dr Cooper said the Foundation had now made contributions to 75 charities in South Australia.

This week it presented a cheque for more than $75,000 to Legacy, from the proceeds of the Foundation’s golf day in May, and announced it would allocate proceeds from the 2011 golf day to the Motor Neurone Disease Association of SA.

The Foundation will also receive a contribution of more than $100,000 from promoters of “A Night at Coopers”, a John Farnham concert to be held on the brewery grounds at Regency Park on November 20 this year.
