A Legacy of Support with St John's Youth Services
The relationship between St John's Youth Services (SJYS) and the Coopers Foundation is a testament to the power of enduring partnerships in driving meaningful change. Over the years, we have provided more than $285,000 in funding to SJYS, supporting young people in South Australia who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. This partnership, rooted in shared values and a long history, has made a significant impact on countless young lives.
A Legacy of Leadership and Patronage
The connection between SJYS and the Coopers Foundation is not merely financial - it is deeply personal. The Chair of the Coopers Foundation, Mel Cooper AM, also serves as a Patron of St John's Youth Services, following in the footsteps of her father, Bill Cooper.
This legacy of patronage reflects the Cooper family's deep commitment to the community, particularly to vulnerable young people. Their involvement goes beyond financial contributions and is a relationship built on a shared belief in the importance of giving young people the opportunity to build a brighter future.
Significant Financial Support
Since 2008, the Coopers Foundation has provided more than $285,000 in funding to SJYS. This financial support has enabled the organisation to deliver its essential services, which include crisis accommodation, long-term housing, and support programs designed to help young people move from homelessness to independence.
One notable example of support was the Coopers Foundation Golf Day fundraiser in 2022, for which SJYS was selected as one of two charity partners (along with Operation Flinders). By combining resources and expertise, we were able to hold an event that not only raised much-needed funds but also engaged the community in the mission of supporting young people.
Built on Strong Foundations
The support for SJYS began with the fourth generation of the Cooper family and has been carried forward by the fifth generation, who are now bringing the sixth generation into the Foundation’s work. This ongoing commitment across generations exemplifies how enduring, meaningful partnerships can truly transform the lives of those in need.
