Empowering Financial Resilience with Christians Against Poverty

In 2018, we awarded the Sustainable Giving grant to Christians Against Poverty (CAP) for their Money Mentoring program. This initiative was chosen due to its proven approach to helping individuals and families break free from the cycle of debt and build lasting financial resilience. The $150,000 grant over three years aimed to enhance CAP's ability to scale its impact across Australia, particularly in communities facing financial hardship. Recognising the continued success and growing demand for CAP’s services, we renewed our support in 2023 with an additional $30,000 grant.

Why we supported Money Mentoring

CAP’s Money Mentoring program was selected for the Sustainable Giving grant because of its unique model that combines practical financial education with personalised, one-on-one mentoring. This holistic approach empowers participants to manage their finances better and addresses the root causes of their financial difficulties. CAP's strong community networks and partnerships with local churches made it an ideal candidate to deliver sustainable change at the grassroots level.

2023 Grant and Continued Support

In 2023, recognising how successful the Money Monetoring program was in supporting the community, the Coopers Foundation awarded an additional $30,000 grant to expand the program into more locations.

The grants awarded to the CAP Money Mentoring program have had a profound and lasting impact on individuals and communities across Australia that are facing financial hardship. CAP’s dedication to empowering people to manage their finances and break free from debt aligns perfectly with our commitment to sustainable, community-driven initiatives. We are proud to have partnered with CAP in this journey and look forward to seeing the continued positive outcomes from this vital program.
